Destination Health Signs Up For VitalKey Portable Medical Records
Dallas Business Journal
VitalKey, a technology developed to make portable patients' candid medical histories, will be adopted by Destination Health, a Southlake care provider.
VitalKey, created by a group of physicians in Virginia, places a patient's entire medical history on a USB keychain. The company keeps up with the patient's medical history and gathers records from doctors, updating the USB device every time it is plugged in to an Internet connected computer.
The company says it treats the devices similarly to credit cards: if one is ever lost or stolen, it will be replaced, and should the cancelled drive ever be plugged in to an Internet connected computer, information is automatically erased.
"My goal is to provide my patients with the best health care possible and adding VitalKey as a standard in my practice helps me to continue this mission," Dr. Robin Hall, founder of Destination Health, said in a news release. "Keeping medical records consolidated, organized and always on hand ensures that my patients have access to critical information at all times, especially in emergency situations, offering potentially life-saving benefits."
Destination Health is the first medical practice in Texas to adopt the technology.
