How It Works
Your Medical Records
contain your most important personal information. It protects you. And it helps your doctor(s) by providing easy access to an up-to-date digital copy of your medical records stored on a small, rugged, USB computer drive usable on any computer.
With your permission, we collect and organize your records for you. First, your VitalKey Medical Specialist talks with you to gather information that only you can provide – your emergency contacts, insurance information and your physician contact information.
Then, we contact each of your doctors on your behalf to gather copies of your medical records.
Your VitalKey Team
is comprised of trained medical specialists. We carefully review your records, then organize and store them in intuitive categories for doctors to access quickly without any prior training.
We don’t stop there. To protect you, your records must be up-to-date. When you have a doctor’s visit that produces new medical information, we quickly get it on your VitalKey. Your VitalKey updates itself from any internet connected computer. All you or your doctor has to do is plug it in - and click “Start.”
Your Medical Specialist will call you periodically to ensure that no updates have been missed.
Your VitalKey
is now ready for you and any doctor that may need it. Even if you are unable to talk, your VitalKey tells doctors what they need to know.
Your information is easily accessible by plugging your VitalKey into any computer. Doctors use their web browser to view your VitalKey, but Internet access is NOT required to see the information on your VitalKey.
Your Privacy And Security
Our goal is to balance the doctor’s need to access your medical information in an emergency with the need to protect the information on your VitalKey. No passwords or other barriers will stand in the way of a doctor trying to treat you. If there is information that you don’t want on your VitalKey, we will withhold it.
We treat a lost VitalKey like a lost credit card. If you lose your VitalKey, notify us either by phone or online. If anyone attempts to access the information on your lost VitalKey from an Internet-connected computer, your VitalKey will be automatically erased before your information can be viewed.
The important thing to remember is that your information is in your control. We maintain a back-up copy of your information, so your information is never truly lost.
